The Dancer – painting from life then further work in my studio

A few days ago I worked with my beautiful model Djuana who loves to dress up. In this session she wore a blonde wig, tutu, beaded bra and gold high heels. Each time I complete a painting in my studio, it changes completely! I had fun playing with colour on canvas, using up my tubes of gouache at a great rate of knots. Here’s the progression going from the finished work.

30th August 2017

I decided the painting was missing something and the model looked ‘too starey’ so I decided to paint my friend outside the window with her chicken. We were painting in the studio of her home at the time.

It’s a little crazy but makes me smile. I decided to lower the eyelids of the model as well. A little different!
